Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How does Electrolysis work?
A.
We insert a fine probe beside the hair and to the base of the hair.
Then a short pulse of energy is emited to stop the nourishment of the
hair. You will learn much more during your complimentary consultation.
Q. Is Electrolysis safe?A.
Yes, absolutely!, when performed correctly by a professional
electrologist and followed with proper aftercare by the patient. This
office meets the sterilization and infection controls standards
recommended by American Electrology Association (AEA) and US Center for
Disease Control (CDC). These standards protect the client and makes it
virtually impossible to get any infectious disease.
Q. Are the treatments painful?A.
The insertion of the probe will be painless. When the pulse of
energy is emitted, slight discomfort will be felt. Many clients related
it to the feeling of plucking a hair. For more sensitive clients,
anesthetic creams can be applied prior to treatment.
Q. Is Electrolosis permanent?A.
Definitely yes! Electrolysis remains the only proven method of
permanent hair removal. Other methods will advertise as permanent,
long-lasting, or permanent reduction, but only Electrolysis provides
permanent hair removal.
Q. Why do I have unwanted hair?A.
Some unwanted hair growth can be attributed to your heredity or a
glandular disturbance. Otherfactors such as medications, operations, or
illness can also contribute to hair growth. However, most hair that we
treat is not due to an abnormal condition.
Q. Why does hair reappear after treatment?A.
Hair grows in cycles, and what you might be noticing is hair that
has begun to grow but has not yet been treated. I will also
explain the breaking-down process during your consultation.
Q. Should I be concerned about after-effects?A.
You will most likely experience some redness or slight swelling
of the treated area. It will quickly disappear with use of an
after-treatment topical that we will recommend.
Q. How do I cope with hair growth between treatments?A.
We suggest scissors-cutting or shaving of unwanted hair between
treatments. This will leave enough hair for your Electrologist to treat
and remove. Please, no waxing, tweezing, depilatories or laser.
Q. Are treatments expensive?A.
When you compare the cost of other beauty treatments,
Electrolysis is reasonably priced. Many people spend thousands of
dollars in a lifetime on temporary hair removal. Why not have your
unwanted hair removed forever.
Q. Will all of my unwanted hair be removed at one time?A.
Unusally this is not possible. Our goal is to permanently remove
your unwanted hair without causing damage to the skin. The number and
length of treatments will depend upon the amount of growth, area to be
treated, coarseness of the hair and the hair growth cycle. Age,
ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism all play a
part in hair's location, thickness and resilience.
Q. Can anyone be treated with Electorlysis?A.
No. We do not recommend treatments for clients using certain
medications, who are pregnant, who are fitted with a pacemaker or who
are pre-teens.
